To position the consumption landscape for long-term sustainable growth, the World Economic Forum’s Future of Consumption Platform focuses on driving transformation across challenge areas that will deliver the greatest value for business, people, and the planet. Their mission is to advance responsible models of consumption for the benefit of business and society.

Austin is one of four worldwide cities to be selected for this initiative with the World Economic Forum.

Jersey City and Mumbai programs are already underway, and Moscow is slated for 2021.

In collaboration with the Austin Healthcare Council, the World Economic Forum launched the initiative in Austin, Texas to ensure community health and well-being both in near-term as Austin builds more resilience in the midst of COVID, as well as for the longer-term. Jersey City (NJ) has been a successful first partner to WEF’s efforts over the last year. On July 21, 2020, the Austin Healthcare Council, in conjunction with the World Economic Forum and IBM, held a 1.5 hour thought leadership session, with the mission of generating and prioritizing new ideas on the interrelated dimensions of health and well-being and the advancement of private-public collaborations within Austin. This session yielded four areas of consideration for the AHC to endorse moving forward.

The Austin Healthcare Council is a forum for Austin Healthcare industry C-level executives to solve shared problems and align shared effort overlap. Our collaborative projects bring together major players to make Austin a model healthy city, as well as to combine efforts on major issues with broad public support. When AHC Members work together, the entire healthcare ecosystem of Austin benefits.

By supporting our initiatives, our members are choosing to make a profound investment in Austin’s healthcare community. We are moving the needle on healthcare innovation in Central Texas, and we appreciate their support as we develop new programs for Central Texans.

The Austin Healthcare Council will lead project management, with directional support from our Impact Committee, headed by Bill Rice, MD. To add your organization’s voice to this initiative, please contact Gus Cardenas and join the council.
