Call For Innovative Solutions in the Healthcare Space

Collaborate and exchange knowledge for integrated care solutions, innovation and technology for healthy living

The health forum served as a basis for the Netherlands and Austin to (re)connect with a view to the future for collaboration and knowledge exchange – especially when it comes to the digital transformation that healthcare is currently experiencing in themes such as mental and preventive care.

Austin Healthcare Council President and CEO Gus Cardenas welcomed distinguished guests and council members to Headliners Club. Lunch was enjoyed while the Keynote was given by Ernst Kuipers, Minister of Health, Welfare and Sport (Netherlands), followed by remarks from Danguillaume Oduber, Minister of Health and Tourism (Aruba). Dr. Norman Chenven, Founding CEO of Austin Regional Clinic, took questions from the audience.

Chris Moose, Partner in the Healthcare and Life Sciences practice of IBM, moderated the panel discussion about the important impact innovation and tech have in mental health, preventive care, vitality and healthy living. Dr. Bill Rice, Senior VP Clinical Innovation of St. David’s Health and David Evans, CEO of Integral Care, represented AHC. Eline Vrijland of Health Holland and Vitor Rocha, Chief Market Leader of Philips North America shared their expertise.

Members of the AHC Executive Board, Vice Chair Meredith Duncan of Bright Health and Past Board Chair Jay Fox of President of Baylor Scott & White, along with the Ministers, greeted Her Majesty Queen Máxima upon her arrival for the group photo and following conversation.

At the conclusion of the summit, Her Majesty was gifted a painted wooden box bearing the image of the Lone Star State flag and containing Texas flag flown over the State Capitol.
