Call For Innovative Solutions in the Healthcare Space

Healthy Cities & Communities Initiative

A partnership for Austin between the Austin Healthcare Council and the World Economic Forum

As part of the Austin Healthcare Council (AHC) and the City of Austin’s collaboration with the World Economic Forum (WEF), the AHC is choosing a series of local projects that can be boosted through cross-collaboration with our member organizations. To fit within the WEF project framework, a community project must be preventative in nature and leverage technology to achieve improved outcomes. If successful, each project could then be used as a blueprint to replicate similar health outcomes worldwide, with support and guidance from the Austin Healthcare Council, our city partners, and the World Economic Forum Healthy Cities & Communities Initiative.

Your Innovations, Our Connections

The Austin Healthcare Council and World Economic Forum are searching for potential program pilots in Austin that solve problems in the healthcare space. The Austin Healthcare Council will support and guide collaborations and proof-of-concept pilots for an Austin launch or expansion, and successful programs will then be marketed through the WEF’s worldwide portfolio under the Healthy Cities & Communities Initiative. We will be considering programs that include:

  1. A solution within one (or more) of the following verticals:

    • Diet & Nutrition

    • Occupational & Financial Stability

    • Mental Health & Well-Being

    • Homelessness

    • Pandemic Preparedness & Action

  2. A current presence in Austin or intent to expand within Austin. If your organization is not in Austin, we will pair you with Austin partners to build a proof-of-concept pilot.

  3. Innovation ideas that are replicable, scalable, and testable. We need to be able to demonstrably prove that your solution has positively impacted our community.

  4. Additional criteria:

    • Is the solution of interest to our community?

    • Does the solution align with the priorities of stakeholders and potential champions?

    • Is the solution economically viable and sustainable?

    • Does the solution serve the needs of our community?

    • Does the solution focus on prevention while leveraging technology?

    • Are there tangible and replicable measures of success?

Applications will be reviewed by Austin Healthcare Council committee members. We are giving priority to our AHC Members and will consider developing outside programs if we have additional capacity. The Austin Healthcare Council reserves the right to accept, decline or terminate a project for any or no reason at any time. We look forward to learning about your idea!
